Belgrave Orchids

Belgrave Orchids is a specialist orchid nursery based in the cool, high-rainfall environment of the Dandenong Ranges, southeast of Melbourne.

We focus on cool-growing orchids suited to temperate Australian conditions, including genera such as Masdevallia, Sarcochilus, Cymbidium, and selected Dendrobium. Our growing conditions and plant selection reflect this focus, and not all orchids are suitable for all environments — an approach we are deliberate about.

Our background spans more than two decades of growing, exhibiting, and judging orchids, with long-standing involvement in orchid societies and shows. While our earlier work included warm- and hot-growing orchids, our nursery has intentionally shifted toward cool-growing species and hybrids that perform reliably in Australian temperate climates.

Plants are released seasonally, when they are physiologically ready to establish and grow. Our stock is sourced from our own collection and from selected Australian nurseries we trust. Many offerings are limited in number and may include end-of-run plants or material not widely available. Not all plants are sold in flower, and photographs may not always represent the exact clone — something experienced growers understand and accept.

Every plant is grown on and assessed under our care before sale. We do not aim to carry everything, and we do not prioritise volume. Our focus is on plant health, correct timing, and realistic expectations.

All packaging materials used for dispatch are recyclable and/or compostable, and our pots and labels are made from PP5 recyclable material.

Belgrave Orchids operates as a private, online-only nursery. We do not offer onsite shopping, open days, order collection, or nursery visits.

Belgrave Orchids exists for growers who value plant quality, accuracy, and long-term success over impulse purchase. We publish care guides and technical information to support this, but we do not promise outcomes that depend on environment, experience, or time.
