Introduce the striking contrast of Cymbidium Mary Green ‘Lipstick’, a beloved miniature hybrid instantly recognizable by its bold, painted lip. The soft apricot to creamy yellow segments provide a warm canvas for the dramatic, deep red labellum. Bred specifically for a cascading habit and prolific flowering, this mericlone is an easy-to-manage showpiece that thrives in cool conditions and is ideally suited for hanging baskets.
Care Requirements
- Light: Requires bright, filtered light for optimal growth and reliable flowering. Protect foliage from direct summer sun to prevent burning.
- Temperature: Cool to Intermediate (10°C – 24°C). Ensure a noticeable drop in night temperatures during Autumn (10°C-14°C) to effectively set new flower spikes.
- Watering: Water generously during the Spring and Summer growing season, ensuring the mix is allowed to almost dry out before the next watering. Reduce watering significantly in Winter.
- Humidity: 50% to 70% is preferred. Excellent air circulation is vital, particularly around developing spikes and flowers.
- Potting: Use a free-draining, bark-based orchid mix. This miniature variety performs best when slightly pot-bound. Repot every two years or when media degradation occurs.
- Fertilizing: Apply high-nitrogen fertilizer during the active growth period. Switch to a high-potassium bloom-booster in the late summer/early autumn to promote prolific flower count.
