Care Requirements
- Light: Requires bright, filtered light to ensure the deep brown colour saturation and promote strong, upright spike growth. Shade during intense midday heat.
- Temperature: Intermediate (10°C – 27°C). The essential cool-down period in Autumn (10°C-14°C at night) is crucial for reliable flower initiation.
- Watering: Water generously and consistently during the Spring and Summer active growth period. Allow the potting mix to dry almost completely between waterings in Winter.
- Humidity: 50% or higher. Good air circulation is essential for the dense foliage and promoting fragrance diffusion.
- Potting: Use a free-draining, bark-based Cymbidium mix. Repot every 2–3 years, ideally in Spring after flowering.
- Fertilizing: Apply high-nitrogen feed during the Summer growth phase. Transition to a high-potassium bloom-booster in late Summer and Autumn.
Genetic History & Provenance
- Parentage: Cymbidium sinense x Cymbidium Volcano.
