Cymbidium Brunette ‘Chocolate Spice’

Cymbidium Brunette 'Chocolate Spice' is an intermediate Cymbidium hybrid mericlone, grown for its rich chocolate-brown flowers and noticeable fragrance. The Brunette grex is an established Australian hybrid known for its warm, dark floral tones. 'Chocolate Spice' is a cultivar selected for depth of colour, consistent flower form and a distinctive scent when in bloom.

About this plant

• Flowering: Winter to spring. Upright spikes carry multiple fragrant flowers in clean, well-spaced sprays.
• Flowers: Warm mahogany to cocoa-brown, with a contrasting cream lip and fine red-brown patterning. As a mericlone, the flowers are consistent with the images shown.
• Plant: Intermediate to miniature size.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. It needs cool autumn nights to initiate spiking, so it is not suited to warm climates. Well suited to southern Australian conditions.
• Light: Bright filtered light. Use 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade, and avoid direct midday sun.
• Humidity: Moderate to high.
• Water: Water freely during spring and summer growth. Reduce frequency in winter while keeping the medium just moist.
• Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser fortnightly during the growing season. Taper off through late autumn and winter.

What you'll receive

One single-lead clone (SLC): a mericlone, propagated by meristem, with a single lead. It is supplied in a 66mm pot as an established growing plant. It is not yet flowering size. The root system is packed to protect it in transit, and plants ship from the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria.
