Pairs well with

Cymbidium Celtic Imp 'Caprice' is a miniature mericlone Cymbidium with clear lime-green petals and sepals and a white lip densely stippled with fine burgundy-red markings. Celtic Imp (Cym. floribundum × Cym. Celtic Oak) is an Australian grex registered in 1979, and with half its ancestry from the species floribundum it keeps a compact habit and freely produced spikes. As a mericlone, flowers are consistent with the images shown.

About this plant

  • Flowering: Spring. Upright to arching spikes carrying multiple flowers.
  • Flowers: Miniature type. Lime-green petals and sepals. White lip heavily marked with fine burgundy-red stippling, with yellow ridges at the throat and a pale yellow-green column.
  • Parentage: Cym. floribundum × Cym. Celtic Oak (registered 1979, L. Woolnough).

Growing conditions

  • Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Well suited to southern Australian conditions. It requires cool autumn nights to initiate spiking, and is not suitable for warm climates.
  • Light: Bright filtered light. 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade. Avoid direct midday sun.
  • Humidity: Moderate to high.
  • Water: Water freely during spring and summer growth. Reduce frequency in winter while keeping the medium just moist.
  • Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser fortnightly during the growing season. Taper off through late autumn and winter.
