Cymbidium (Chocolate Dream × Summer Clouds) 'John Charles' is an intermediate-size mericlone Cymbidium hybrid. The cross combines the warm, richly toned Chocolate Dream with the soft, clean lines of Summer Clouds, producing a cultivar with blush-pink flowers and a composed upright spike habit.

What to expect

• Flowering: Winter to spring. Typically one to two upright spikes per mature growth, each carrying multiple well-spaced flowers.
• Flowers: Soft blush-pink with gentle tonal variation across the petals and a lightly marked lip. As a mericlone, flowers are consistent with the images shown.
• Plant: Intermediate size. Supplied in a 66mm pot as an established growing plant.

Growing notes

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Well-suited to southern Australian conditions. Requires cool autumn nights to initiate spiking.
• Light: Bright filtered light. 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade. Avoid direct midday sun.
• Water: Water freely during spring and summer growth. Reduce frequency in winter while keeping the medium just moist.
• Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser fortnightly during the growing season. Taper off through late autumn and winter.
