Pairs well with
Cymbidium (Copper Wall 'Copper Queen' × Gwen Thomas 'Sunburst') is a seedling cross between two warm-coloured standard Cymbidiums. The photos show the two parent plants, not the seedling itself: each seedling is unflowered and will be an individual, with flowers expected to fall somewhere within the range of its parents.
About the parents
- Copper Wall 'Copper Queen' (seed parent): Coppery-bronze petals and sepals flushed deep red-maroon, with a cream lip heavily spotted and barred in dark red. Copper Wall is Cym. Amber Sands × Cym. Khan Wall (registered 2009, G. Giles).
- Gwen Thomas 'Sunburst' (pollen parent): Clear golden-yellow flowers with a yellow lip edged in red spotting. Gwen Thomas is Cym. Catamarca × Cym. Roger Roger (registered 2006, S. Thomas) and is widely used as a parent for clear yellow and gold colour.
What to expect
- Flowering: Winter to spring once mature. Standard-type spikes.
- Flowers: Expected range from copper and bronze through amber to golden-yellow, most likely with red markings on the lip. Exact colour, shape and markings will vary from seedling to seedling.
Growing conditions
- Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Well suited to southern Australian conditions. It requires cool autumn nights to initiate spiking, and is not suitable for warm climates.
- Light: Bright filtered light. 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade. Avoid direct midday sun.
- Humidity: Moderate to high.
- Water: Water freely during spring and summer growth. Reduce frequency in winter while keeping the medium just moist.
- Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser fortnightly during the growing season. Taper off through late autumn and winter.
What you'll receive
