Cymbidium Foxfire Amber 'Dural'

Cymbidium Foxfire Amber 'Dural' is a standard-size mericlone Cymbidium hybrid bred from Cym. Lunar Wall × Cym. Electric Ladyland, originated by Foxfire in 2006. 'Dural' received two awards from the Orchid Society Council of Victoria in 2013, recognising the flower quality and presentation of this cultivar. As a mericlone, flowers are consistent with the awarded plant.

What to expect

• Flowering: Winter to spring. Upright spikes carrying multiple flowers, typically holding for six to eight weeks in good conditions.
• Flowers: Broad, rounded petals in rich amber-orange to copper with darker veining throughout. Lip deep crimson-red with a bright yellow central stripe and heavy dark red spotting. Strong colour contrast. As a mericlone, flowers are consistent with the images shown.
• Plant: Standard size. Supplied in a 66mm pot as an established growing plant.

Growing notes

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Well-suited to southern Australian conditions. Requires cool autumn nights to initiate spiking.
• Light: Bright filtered light. 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade. Avoid direct midday sun.
• Water: Water freely during spring and summer growth. Reduce frequency in winter while keeping the medium just moist.
• Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser fortnightly during the growing season. Taper off through late autumn and winter.
