Introduce the eccentric beauty of Cymbidium Funky Devon ‘Gerald’, a miniature hybrid known for its unique and highly decorative patterning. The pale, yellow-cream segments are densely speckled with plum-red spots, creating a striking contrast with the velvety, dark maroon lip. Thanks to its strong genetic background in miniature breeding, this clone is a vigorous grower that produces masses of flowers on upright to arching spikes, perfect for collectors seeking an easy yet eye-catching display.
Care Requirements
- Light: Requires bright, filtered light to promote spiking and intensify the striking flower colours. Protect from direct, burning sun.
- Temperature: Cool to Intermediate (10°C – 24°C). The essential night-time cool down (10°C-14°C) in Autumn is necessary for consistent flower initiation.
- Watering: Maintain regular moisture during the active Spring/Summer growth. Allow the potting medium to approach dryness between watering sessions in the Winter rest period.
- Humidity: 50% to 70% is recommended. Good air circulation is critical to avoid marking the patterned flowers.
- Potting: Use a free-draining, bark-based Cymbidium mix. This is a compact variety that does well when kept slightly pot-bound.
- Fertilizing: Apply high-nitrogen fertilizer during the vegetative growth phase. Switch to a high-potassium bloom-booster from late Summer through Autumn.

- Parentage: Cymbidium Hugh Gordon x Cymbidium devonianum.
