Cymbidium Mary Green 'Lipstick' is a miniature hybrid Cymbidium selected for its naturally cascading spike habit and distinctive lip colouring. The Mary Green grex is an established Australian miniature hybrid; 'Lipstick' is a cultivar named for and selected on the basis of its bold deep pink to magenta lip — an intense contrast against the pale apricot-to-cream petals.
What to expect
- Flowering: Winter to spring. Cascading spikes carrying multiple flowers in cleanly descending sprays — effective when displayed elevated or in hanging baskets.
- Flowers: Pale apricot to cream petals with a bold, deep pink to magenta lip creating strong visual contrast along the spike. Flower colour and spike count may vary slightly with plant maturity and seasonal conditions.
- Plant: Miniature size. Supplied in a 66mm pot as an established growing plant.
Growing notes
- Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Well-suited to southern Australian conditions. Requires cool autumn nights to initiate spiking.
- Light: Bright filtered light. 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade. Avoid direct midday sun.
- Water: Water freely during spring and summer growth. Reduce frequency in winter while keeping the medium just moist.
- Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser fortnightly during the growing season. Taper off through late autumn and winter.
