A champion of recent breeding, Cymbidium Memoria Myrtle Wain ‘Lachie’ is a distinguished Standard hybrid elevated by an Award of Merit. It presents a rich display of deep plum-red blooms, defined by a delicate, crisp white fringing on the segments. This clone combines superior flower quality with the exceptional vigour needed for exhibition, making it a spectacular and reliable addition for any serious collector.
Care Requirements
- Light: Requires high light intensity to support the dense foliage and ensure strong, upright spikes. Avoid direct sun during peak heat to prevent segment damage.
- Temperature: Cool to Intermediate (10°C – 24°C). Consistent night temperatures of 10°C-14°C in Autumn are essential for high-quality spike development.
- Watering: Water generously during the Spring and Summer active growth period. Allow the mix to approach dryness before rewatering. Reduce watering significantly in Winter.
- Humidity: 40% to 60%. Excellent air movement is necessary to prevent marking on the segments and lip.
- Potting: Use a free-draining, bark-based Cymbidium mix. Repot every 2–3 years when the plant has fully filled its container.
- Fertilizing: Apply a high-nitrogen feed during the Summer growth phase. Transition to a high-potassium bloom-booster in late Summer and Autumn to support the heavy flower count.
