Cymbidium Newbold Craigieburn ‘NewBold HS’

Cymbidium Newbold Craigieburn 'NewBold HS' is a micro-miniature hybrid Cymbidium with finely scaled flowers and a naturally cascading spike habit. The clone is valued for its intricate flower detail, dense maroon spotting on a yellow-green ground, and floriferous cascading sprays.

About this plant

• Flowering: Winter to spring. Cascading spikes carry multiple finely scaled flowers in descending sprays, which show best when the plant is displayed elevated or in a basket.
• Flowers: Yellow-green with dense maroon spotting and a dark, richly patterned lip. Bold contrast at small scale. Flower colour and spike count may vary slightly with plant maturity and seasonal conditions.
• Plant: Micro-miniature and extremely compact.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Well suited to southern Australian conditions, but not suitable for warm climates. It needs cool autumn nights to initiate spiking.
• Light: Bright filtered light. 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade. Avoid direct midday sun.
• Humidity: Moderate to high.
• Water: Water freely during spring and summer growth. Reduce frequency in winter while keeping the medium just moist.
• Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser fortnightly during the growing season. Taper off through late autumn and winter.
