Cymbidium Ruby Valley 'Clare'

Cymbidium Ruby Valley 'Clare' is a mericlone Cymbidium hybrid selected for its deep, saturated crimson-red flowers and upright spike habit. The Ruby Valley grex is a well-regarded Australian hybrid in the dark red Cymbidium tradition; 'Clare' (DW 386) is a named cultivar valued for its rich, even crimson colouration across broad, well-formed petals and a dark, strongly patterned lip.

What to expect

• Flowering: Winter to spring. Upright spikes carrying multiple well-formed flowers per spike.
• Flowers: Deep, even crimson-red across broad, rounded petals with a white lip heavily marked with dark burgundy-black patterning. Rich colour with strong visual presence. As a mericlone, flowers are consistent with the images shown.
• Plant: Standard size. Supplied in a 66mm pot as an established growing plant.

Growing notes

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Well-suited to southern Australian conditions. Requires cool autumn nights to initiate spiking.
• Light: Bright filtered light. 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade. Avoid direct midday sun.
• Water: Water freely during spring and summer growth. Reduce frequency in winter while keeping the medium just moist.
• Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser fortnightly during the growing season. Taper off through late autumn and winter.
