Cymbidium (Sleepy Sarah × Last Tango) ‘Kyabram’

Cymbidium (Sleepy Sarah × Last Tango) 'Kyabram' is a hybrid Cymbidium selected for flower quality and arching spike habit. The cross combines the traits of two established Australian hybrids; 'Kyabram' is a cultivar valued for its warm, earthy-toned flowers with a contrasting patterned lip and naturally arching, well-balanced spike presentation. This plant is a single-lead clone (SLC), a mericlone with one lead, and is not yet at flowering size.

About this plant

• Flowering: Winter to spring once the plant reaches flowering size. Arching spikes carry multiple intermediate-sized flowers in balanced, naturally flowing sprays.
• Flowers: Warm earthy tones with a contrasting patterned lip, clear definition and a composed overall form. Flower colour and spike count may vary slightly with plant maturity and seasonal conditions.
• Plant: Intermediate size. It is not yet at flowering size, so it will need growing on before it flowers.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate, and well suited to southern Australian conditions. It requires cool autumn nights to initiate spiking, and it is not suitable for warm climates.
• Light: Bright filtered light. Use 30–50% shade cloth or dappled outdoor shade, and avoid direct midday sun.
• Humidity: Moderate to high.
• Water: Water freely during spring and summer growth. Reduce frequency in winter while keeping the medium just moist.
• Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser fortnightly during the growing season. Taper off through late autumn and winter.
