About the Cross
Cross number 5871. Anne's Rainbow Surprise is a registered Australian hybrid bred by I. Klein in 1995 — Den. Colonial Surprise x Den. speciosum — with Den. bigibbum as a great-grandparent, which contributes the vivid colour, upright racemes and large flower size this grex is known for. The 'Bairnsdale' clone shows deep hot pink flowers — striking against the creamy-green spidery character of speciosum 'Travis'. This cross should produce plants with impressive spike length, good colour and the vigour typical of speciosum crosses, with the added colour intensity from the bigibbum background. More adaptable across a range of climates than most Australian native hybrids.
What You'll Receive
Established seedlings in 80mm pots, grown in the Dandenong Ranges. Not yet flowered. Individual results will vary — that's the nature of a seedling cross and part of what makes it worthwhile.
