Dendrobium Balnarring — Rutherford Starburst 'Tinonee' × spec 'Bomberland' AM is an Australian native Dendrobium seedling cross (cross number 5063, grex "Balnarring") bred from an antelope-type spider parent and an award-winning species clone. Rutherford Starburst 'Tinonee' contributes narrow, twisting orange-yellow segments with a magenta lip; 'Bomberland' AM is an award-winning species clone with dense sprays of cream-yellow flowers. The photographs show the parent plants. Individual seedlings will vary in flower colour and form.
What to expect
- Flowering: Spring. Branching sprays carrying numerous flowers.
- Flowers: Expected range from orange-yellow twisting antelope-type segments to cream-yellow, drawing on both parents. Individual seedlings will vary.
- Plant: Upright hard-cane habit. Supplied in an 80mm pot as an established seedling.
Growing notes
- Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Hardy and well-suited to outdoor growing in southern Australia. Protect from frost.
- Light: Bright filtered light. Morning sun is beneficial; avoid harsh afternoon exposure.
- Water: Water freely during summer growth. Reduce significantly in autumn and winter — a dry winter rest is important for flowering.
- Feeding: Balanced fertiliser during the growing season. Cease in late autumn through winter.
