Dendrobium Brimbank Sunset 'Green Delight' × speciosum 'Chloe' is a seedling hybrid between two contrasting Australian Dendrobiums. It suits growers who want a larger, sturdier plant than a typical kingianum-alliance hybrid, with spring flowers in yellow to yellow-green. The plant is near flowering size (NFS), so it is close to flowering but not yet at flowering size.

About this plant

Brimbank Sunset is a compact kingianum-alliance hybrid. D. speciosum 'Chloe' is a yellow-flowering form of the rock orchid, one of Australia's most robust epiphytic species. The photographs show the two parent plants, not the seedling. Seedling flowers will draw on both parents and will vary between individual plants.

• Flowering: Spring. Spikes carry multiple flowers, following the seasonal cue of the speciosum parentage.
• Flowers: Expected to draw on both parents: yellow-green to chartreuse with red spotting and a burgundy lip from Brimbank Sunset 'Green Delight', and clean yellow from D. speciosum 'Chloe'. Exact colour and pattern will vary between individual plants.
• Plant: Larger and more robust than a typical kingianum-alliance hybrid, reflecting the speciosum influence. Forms clumping growth over time.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate, and it needs cool nights. Hardy and cold-tolerant when established. A cool winter dry rest supports spring flowering.
• Light: Full sun to bright filtered light. The speciosum parentage increases light and heat tolerance compared to standard kingianum hybrids.
• Water: Regular through the growing season; restrict through winter rest.
• Feeding: Balanced fertiliser through spring and summer, reduced from late autumn.
