Dendrobium Brimbank You Beauty 'Peg' × Tyabb 'Superstar' AM/AOC

Dendrobium Brimbank You Beauty 'Peg' × Tyabb 'Superstar' AM/AOC is an Australian native Dendrobium seedling cross (cross number 5617, "Newbold Ty Beauty") from two compact parents. It suits growers who want purple to magenta flowers with heavy white flaring on a compact, upright hard-cane plant. This one is a near flowering size (NFS) seedling, close to flowering but not yet at flowering size.

About this plant

Both parents are compact kingianum-alliance plants. Brimbank You Beauty 'Peg' is valued for its rich magenta-purple flowers with bold white flaring. Tyabb 'Superstar' AM/AOC is an award-winning clone that contributes strong form and heavy white flaring across the segments. The photographs show the parent plants. Individual seedlings will vary in flower colour and form.

• Flowering: Spring. Upright to arching spikes carry multiple flowers above the canes.
• Flowers: Expect purple to magenta tones with heavy white flaring, drawing on both parents. Lip colour and patterning will vary between seedlings.
• Plant: Compact, upright, hard-cane habit.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate, and it needs cool nights. Hardy and well suited to outdoor growing in southern Australia. Protect from frost.
• Light: Bright filtered light. Morning sun is beneficial; avoid harsh afternoon exposure.
• Water: Water freely during summer growth. Reduce significantly in autumn and winter, as a dry winter rest is important for flowering.
• Feeding: Balanced fertiliser during the growing season. Stop in late autumn and through winter.
