About the Cross
A self cross of Hot and Grumpy 'Yellow Stripes' — pollen from the same plant used back on itself. Hot and Grumpy is a registered Dockrillia hybrid (Den. [Doc.] Hot and Grumpy, RHS registered) with complex section Rhizobium breeding behind it, combining the influence of Dendrobium Grumpy — known for its large, broad segments and strong striation — and the colour intensity associated with Hot Coals parentage. The 'Yellow Stripes' cultivar is a yellow-flowered, striped selection of this grex. Selfing a named cultivar like this concentrates its genetics, meaning seedlings are more likely to share the parent's character than in an outcross — though some variation is inevitable, and the best results will only reveal themselves at flowering. Terete growth habit throughout; suited to mounting or basket culture with good airflow and a dry winter rest.
What You'll Receive
Established seedlings in 66mm pots, grown in the Dandenong Ranges. Not yet flowered. Individual results will vary — that's the nature of a seedling cross and part of what makes it worthwhile.
