Dendrobium Newbold Norm's Delight

Dendrobium Newbold Norm's Delight is an Australian native Dendrobium seedling cross (cross number SJS3502) bred from Snugglebear 'Kings Park' × Tyabb 'Rosy Cheeks'. Snugglebear 'Kings Park' contributes intense magenta-pink colouring with characteristic white streaking; Tyabb 'Rosy Cheeks' adds broader petal form, soft pink ground colouration, and a deep red-burgundy lip. The photographs show the parent plants. Individual seedlings will vary in flower colour, pattern density, and form.

What to expect

• Flowering: Spring. Upright to arching spikes carrying multiple flowers above the canes.
• Flowers: Expected range from deep magenta-pink to soft pink with variable white streaking and splashing reflecting the Snugglebear parent. Lip colour will vary — deep red to burgundy likely in many seedlings. Individual plants will vary.
• Plant: Upright hard-cane Dendrobium. Compact to intermediate size. Supplied in an 80mm pot as an established seedling.

Growing notes

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Hardy and well-suited to outdoor growing in southern Australia. Protect from frost.
• Light: Bright filtered light. Morning sun is beneficial; avoid harsh afternoon exposure.
• Water: Water freely during summer growth. Reduce significantly in autumn and winter — a dry winter rest is important for flowering.
• Feeding: Balanced fertiliser during the growing season. Cease in late autumn through winter.
