Dendrobium Newbold Regalsheen 'Sunshine' × speciosum 'Bomberland' AM/OSCOV HCC/AOC is an Australian native Dendrobium seedling cross (cross number 5340). Newbold Regalsheen 'Sunshine' is a kingianum-alliance hybrid with olive-yellow flowers and red-brown spotting; D. speciosum 'Bomberland' holds two awards — AM/OSCOV and HCC/AOC — and is recognised for exceptional flower quality and robust presentation. The photographs show the parent plants. Individual seedlings will vary in flower colour and form.

What to expect

  • Flowering: Spring. Long spikes carrying multiple flowers, reflecting the speciosum parentage.
  • Flowers: Expected yellow to olive with variable red-brown spotting and lip contrast drawing on both parents. The dual-awarded speciosum parent increases the potential for exceptional flower quality across the batch. Individual plants will vary.
  • Plant: Robust, larger than standard kingianum hybrids. Forms spreading clumps over time.

Growing notes

  • Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Hardy and cold-tolerant when established. A cool winter dry rest supports spring flowering.
  • Light: Full sun to bright filtered light. The speciosum parentage increases light and heat tolerance.
  • Water: Regular through the growing season; restrict through winter rest.
  • Feeding: Balanced fertiliser through spring and summer, reduced from late autumn.
