Dendrobium Snugglebear 'Michelle' × Jesmond Sparkler 'Greg Hall' is an Australian native Dendrobium seedling cross (cross number 5426) bred from two well-known cultivars. Snugglebear 'Michelle' is valued for its intense magenta-pink colouring and compact cane habit; Jesmond Sparkler 'Greg Hall' contributes vivid gold and red patterning with strong contrast. The photographs show the parent plants. Individual seedlings will vary in flower colour, pattern, and form — that variation is the nature of a seedling cross.

What to expect

• Flowering: Late winter to spring. Racemes of multiple flowers carried on upright spikes above the canes.
• Flowers: Expected range from hot pink and magenta through to gold and yellow, with many seedlings likely to show bicolour combinations and variable spotting. Individual plants will vary.
• Plant: Upright hard-cane Dendrobium, compact habit. Supplied in an 80mm pot as an established seedling.

Growing notes

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Hardy and well-suited to outdoor growing in southern Australia. Protect from frost.
• Light: Bright filtered light. Morning sun is beneficial; avoid harsh afternoon exposure.
• Water: Water freely during summer growth. Reduce significantly in autumn and winter — a dry winter rest is important for flowering.
• Feeding: Balanced fertiliser during the growing season. Cease in late autumn through winter.
