Masdevallia Falcata 'Gold Digger' × Pichincha 'Cape View' combines the Falcata grex (M. coccinea × M. veitchiana) with Pichincha (Copper Angel × M. calocodon, Ray Thomson 1993).

What to expect

• Flowering: Single blooms carried on erect spikes clear of the foliage.
• Flowers: White to cream ground colour finely striped with magenta-pink veining through the segments, with a yellow-green dorsal tail.
• Plant: Compact Masdevallia growth habit, suited to cool-growing collections.

Growing notes

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Avoid sustained heat — this is the primary cause of failure with Masdevallia.
• Light: Bright filtered shade. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. No pseudobulbs means no water reserves — do not allow to dry out.
• Humidity & air: High humidity with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred.
