About this plant
Masdevallia Angel Heart 'Cupids Bow' is a named clonal selection of this primary hybrid (M. ignea × M. infracta), originated by J & L Orchids in 1991. Angel Heart combines the fire-red intensity of ignea with the smaller, richly coloured form of infracta.
- Flowers: Rich red tones with good substance, typical of the Angel Heart grex.
- Flower spikes: Single blooms carried on erect spikes clear of the foliage.
- Plant: Compact Masdevallia growth habit, suited to cool-growing collections.
Growing conditions
- Temperature: Cool to intermediate, 5°C – 22°C, with cool nights. Avoid sustained heat, which is the primary cause of failure with Masdevallia. Not suited to warm climates.
- Light: Bright filtered light. No direct midday sun.
- Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. With no pseudobulbs there are no water reserves, so do not allow it to dry out.
- Humidity & air: Humidity of 60% or higher, with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred.
