Masdevallia barlaeana 'Harold' HCC/AOS

Masdevallia barlaeana 'Harold' HCC/AOS is a division of a long-standing awarded clone of this cool-growing Andean species. 'Harold' received its HCC from the AOS in 1975 and remains one of the recognised cultivars of the species. What you receive is genetically identical to the awarded plant — not a seedling.

What to expect

• Flowering: Single blooms carried on erect spikes above the foliage, typically summer to autumn.
• Flowers: Deep magenta-crimson with the triangular campanulate form and long swept tails characteristic of section Coccineae. Flower size approximately 3 cm.
• Plant: Miniature, caespitose growth habit. Compact and well-suited to cool-growing collections.

• Temperature: Cool to cold. This species originates from rocky Andean slopes at 2,200–3,100 m. Avoid sustained warmth.
• Light: Filtered shade. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. No pseudobulbs means no drought tolerance — do not allow to dry out.
• Humidity & air: High humidity with consistent air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred.
