Masdevallia Bay of Fire 'Whoop Whoop'

Masdevallia Bay of Fire 'Whoop Whoop' is a division of what is widely regarded as the best clone of this hybrid in cultivation. 'Whoop Whoop' has taken multiple grand champion titles at both open shows and specialist Masdevallia shows.

About this plant

• Flowering: Single blooms carried on erect spikes clear of the foliage. It can rebloom multiple times a year under good conditions.
• Flowers: Bold orange with dense red spotting across the sepal face, a long dark dorsal tail and strong substance. Colour is vivid and consistent in this clone.
• Plant: Compact Masdevallia growth habit. A vigorous, well-proven hybrid suited to cool-growing collections.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate, 5°C to 22°C. It needs cool nights and is not suited to warm climates. Avoid sustained heat, which is the primary cause of failure with Masdevallia.
• Light: Bright filtered shade. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. With no pseudobulbs there are no water reserves, so do not allow it to dry out.
• Humidity and air: Humidity of 60% or higher, with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water is preferred.
