Masdevallia Bright Spice is a registered hybrid (M. John Leathers × M. triangularis), registered by D.F. Butler in 2000. John Leathers contributes bold spotting and warm amber tones; M. triangularis, a Venezuelan cloud forest species, brings its characteristic open triangular form, warm yellow colouring, and free-flowering habit. The result is a compact, freely flowering plant with triangular blooms in yellow to pale pink, densely speckled with magenta-purple, and long dark red tails.
