Masdevallia buccinator, the "Horn Blower" Masdevallia, takes its name from its swollen lateral sepals, which puff out like the cheeks of a bugler. The sepals are inflated above the middle and held tightly together, forming a deep tube that is unusual in the genus. Described by Reichenbach and Warszewicz in 1854, it comes from oak forest at 2,500–2,600 m in Santander, Colombia.

'Lito' carries clear yellow flowers with a greenish tint, a light brown blush at the base of the sepal tube and long, slender yellow-green tails.
