Masdevallia Charisma 'Phil'

Masdevallia Charisma 'Phil' is a named clonal selection of this primary hybrid (M. coccinea × M. calocodon), registered by Montessa in 1990. Charisma combines the rich scarlet tones of coccinea with the refined form of calocodon, producing bold, saturated red flowers on a compact plant.

• Flowering: Single blooms carried on erect spikes clear of the foliage.
• Flowers: Rich red to red-orange colouration with good substance, typical of the Charisma grex.
• Plant: Compact Masdevallia growth habit, suited to cool-growing collections.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate, 5°C to 22°C. Cool nights are required. Avoid sustained heat, as this is the primary cause of failure with Masdevallia. Not suited to warm climates.
• Light: Bright filtered light. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. No pseudobulbs means no water reserves, so do not allow it to dry out.
• Humidity & air: Humidity of 60% or higher, with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred.
