About this plant

• Flowering: Single blooms carried on erect spikes clear of the foliage.
• Flowers: Deep red-orange with a vivid orange flash through the interior, strong darker veining, and a long, elegant dorsal tail. Good substance and saturated colour.
• Plant: Compact Masdevallia growth habit, suited to cool-growing collections.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate, 5°C to 22°C. It needs cool nights and is not suited to warm climates. Avoid sustained heat, which is the primary cause of failure with Masdevallia.
• Light: Bright filtered light. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. With no pseudobulbs there are no water reserves, so do not allow it to dry out.
• Humidity and air: Humidity of 60% or higher, with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water is preferred.
