Masdevallia coriacea ‘Red Baron’

Masdevallia coriacea 'Red Baron' is a selected clonal form of Masdevallia coriacea, a distinctive species from the humid cloud forests of Colombia and Ecuador. It is valued for its unusual olive-bronze flowers with strong maroon to deep red striping. Unlike many Masdevallia, coriacea carries its flowers very close to the foliage on short, suberect spikes. They nest within the plant rather than rising above it, which gives a different look from the typical upright-spiked species. 'Red Baron' is a clone selected for the intensity and definition of its dark red striping.
