Masdevallia Curacao ‘Finn’

Masdevallia Curacao is a P.L. Jackson hybrid registered in 2004 — a cross of Masdevallia Copper Queen × M. triangularis. Copper Queen (M. ignea × M. veitchiana) contributes bold warm orange colouring and good substance; M. triangularis introduces amber-gold tones, producing a warmer, more golden result than either parent alone. The Curacao grex is notable for its clean apricot-warm colour palette. 'Finn' is a selected sibling of 'Oliver', retained for its strong symmetry and elongated, refined flower outline.

• Flowering: Single flowers on erect spikes held clear of the foliage. Well-established plants can carry multiple spikes at once.
• Flowers: Warm apricot-orange with elongated sepals and clean, precise symmetry. A refined, well-proportioned flower, golden rather than orange in tone, with a calm overall presence.
• Plant: Compact Masdevallia habit, vigorous when cool conditions are met.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: 5°C – 22°C, cool to intermediate. It needs cool nights and is not suited to warm climates, so avoid sustained warmth.
• Light: Bright filtered light. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. It has no pseudobulbs, so do not allow it to dry out.
• Humidity & air: 60% or higher, with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred.
