Pairs well with
Masdevallia Curacao is a P.L. Jackson hybrid registered in 2004, a cross of Masdevallia Copper Queen × M. triangularis. Copper Queen (M. ignea × M. veitchiana) contributes bold warm orange colouring and good substance. M. triangularis introduces amber-gold tones and softens the intense saturation, giving a warmer, more golden result than either parent alone. The Curacao grex is notable for its particularly clean, apricot-warm colour palette. 'Oliver' is a selected sibling of 'Finn', retained for its clean apricot-orange flower and well-balanced outline.
About this plant
- Flowering: Single flowers on erect spikes held clear of the foliage. Well-established plants can carry multiple spikes at once.
- Flowers: Warm apricot-orange with elongated sepals and a balanced, symmetrical outline. Closer to apricot than tangerine, and softer than the typical orange Masdevallia.
- Plant: Compact Masdevallia habit, vigorous when cool conditions are met.
Growing conditions
- Temperature: Cool to intermediate, 5°C – 22°C. Avoid sustained warmth. Cool nights are required, and this plant is not suited to warm climates.
- Light: Bright filtered light. No direct midday sun.
- Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. It has no pseudobulbs, so do not allow it to dry out.
- Humidity & air: 60% or higher, with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred.
