Masdevallia Frosty Stripes 'Lilac Snow'

Masdevallia Frosty Stripes 'Lilac Snow' is a selected clone of the Frosty Stripes grex, a hybrid distinguished by its unusually large, broad sepals and the bold radiating pattern at the centre — a deep red-orange triangle that bleeds outward into fine lilac-pink veining across a near-white ground. 'Lilac Snow' was selected for the clarity of that contrast: the ground colour is particularly pale and frost-like, with the central marking reading sharply against it. This is a division of that selected clone.

What to expect

• Flowering: Single flowers on upright spikes, held at or above foliage height. Free-flowering under good conditions, capable of multiple flushes.
• Flowers: Broad, rounded sepals in near-white to pale lilac-pink, with a prominent red-orange central blaze that radiates as fine lilac veining across the full sepal surface. The striped effect is clearest in the lateral sepals. Tails long and slender, dark maroon-red, all three well-developed. Larger flower than most Masdevallia hybrids — notably broad across the face.
• Plant: Vigorous, small standard habit with broad strap-like foliage. Grows larger than the typical miniature Masdevallia and benefits from a slightly larger pot accordingly.

Growing notes

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Avoid sustained warmth.
• Light: Bright filtered shade. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. No pseudobulbs means no water reserves — do not allow to dry out.
• Humidity & air: High humidity with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred.
