Masdevallia (Frosty Strips × macrura) 'Horizontal' is a selected clone from this unregistered cross between two well-proven parents. Frosty Strips (M. veitchiana × M. strobelii) is known for producing broad, wide sepals with bold striped patterning; M. macrura, a large robust Colombian species, contributes extraordinary tail length and heavy substance. 'Horizontal' was selected for its distinctive presentation — the broad sepal body meeting the elongated macrura tails in a flower with unusual lateral reach.

What to expect

• Flowering: Single flowers on erect spikes held clear of the foliage.
• Flowers: Broad, wide sepals with striped patterning and the pronounced elongated tails of macrura. The name reflects the wide lateral spread of the flower.
