Masdevallia Galaxy 'Sundrop' × Bellisimo 'Stripes'

This plant is a selected seedling from the cross Masdevallia Galaxy 'Sundrop' × Bellisimo 'Stripes', an unregistered cross between two named clones. Galaxy 'Sundrop' contributes the clear, saturated yellow ground colour and vigorous habit; Bellisimo 'Stripes' brings the elegant elongated sepal form and the long, fine tails. The resulting seedling resolves toward the yellow of its parents with minimal patterning — a clean, uncluttered flower in a colour that is less common in the genus than the orange and red hybrids. This is a division of that selected seedling.

What to expect

• Flowering: Single flowers on upright spikes, with buds visible across multiple growth points. Reliably floriferous under good conditions.
• Flowers: Clear bright yellow to chartreuse-yellow across all three sepals, deepening slightly to golden-orange toward the column. Minimal patterning — fine venation toward the centre and a small red-orange mark at the column. Tails long and slender, yellow-green, all three well-developed. Distinct from the densely marked orange and striped hybrids — a clean, luminous yellow.
• Plant: Vigorous small standard habit with broad, upright foliage. Multiple growth points visible, capable of producing several spikes simultaneously.

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Avoid sustained warmth.
• Light: Bright filtered shade. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. No pseudobulbs means no water reserves — do not allow to dry out.
• Humidity & air: High humidity with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred.
