Masdevallia Golden Krieks 'Crown Vista'

Masdevallia Golden Krieks 'Crown Vista' is a selected clone of this primary hybrid (M. infracta × M. chaparensis), registered by G. Staal in 2002. As a cross of two species, Golden Krieks combines the broad, rounded form characteristic of M. infracta with influence from the Bolivian species M. chaparensis. 'Crown Vista' was selected for the depth and saturation of its colour — a rich magenta-fuchsia to deep purple-pink that intensifies toward the centre of the flower. This is a division of that selected clone.

What to expect

• Flowering: Single-flowered spikes produced freely on an established plant, held upright and presenting the flower face-forward.
• Flowers: Rich magenta-fuchsia to deep purple-pink throughout, with a darker, slightly warmer centre and fine darker veining visible in the throat. Dorsal sepal forms a broad rounded dome with a long upward-extending yellow-green tail; lateral sepals broad and arching, tapering to two long pendant yellow-green tails. The overall form is wide and open — a clean, solid colour presentation with no spotting.
• Plant: Miniature, compact, upright growth. Vigorous when conditions suit.

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Avoid sustained warmth.
• Light: Bright filtered shade. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. No pseudobulbs means no water reserves — do not allow to dry out.
• Humidity & air: High humidity with constant gentle air movement. Rainwater or RO water preferred.
