Masdevallia John Tomaschke 'Lou Reed' AD/OSCOV is a selected clone of the John Tomaschke grex, an Australian-bred Masdevallia hybrid notable for its relative warmth tolerance within the genus. 'Lou Reed' received an Award of Distinction from the Orchid Society of Canberra and Orchid Venues, recognising the flower quality and presentation of this clone. Where most Masdevallia require consistently cool conditions, John Tomaschke handles brief temperature rises more tolerantly than species like M. coccinea — making it a more practical choice for growers with variable summer conditions.

What to expect

• Flowering: Single flowers on upright to semi-upright spikes. Can flower more than once a year under good conditions.
• Flowers: Warm orange to orange-pink tones with clean sepal form and good substance. Awarded for flower quality and overall presentation.

Growing notes
