Masdevallia (Patricia Hill × macrura) 'Chunkie' is a selected clone of this unregistered cross between two well-proven parents. Patricia Hill (M. veitchiana × M. triangularis) is a warm orange-toned hybrid valued for flower size and substance; M. macrura, a large robust Colombian species, contributes extraordinary tail length, heavy texture, and a thick, compact floral body. 'Chunkie' was selected for its solid, weighty form — a flower with exceptional substance where the compact body and extended tails create a striking proportional contrast.

What to expect

• Flowering: Single flowers on erect spikes held clear of the foliage.
• Flowers: Thick-textured, compact floral body in warm orange tones with the elongated tails of macrura. Bold sculptural outline with strong substance — a flower that looks substantial and holds its form well.
