Masdevallia Veitch's Candy Cane 'Super Striper' HCC/OSCOV, AM/AOC is an awarded clonal selection of this well-known striped Masdevallia hybrid. It holds two awards: a Highly Commended Certificate from the Orchid Society Council of Victoria and an Award of Merit from the Australian Orchid Council. 'Super Striper' was selected for the clarity, boldness and symmetry of its red striping over a rich golden-orange ground, with the pattern defined and evenly distributed across the flower.

About this plant

• Flowers: Rich golden-orange to amber ground with bold, symmetrical red striping radiating through all three sepals. The stripes are crisp and well defined, and long tails extend cleanly from the lower sepals.
• Flowering: Single flowers on erect spikes held clear of the foliage. Well-established plants can carry multiple spikes at once.
• Plant: Compact Masdevallia habit, vigorous when cool conditions are met.

Growing conditions

• Temperature: Cool to intermediate, 5°C to 22°C. Cool nights are required, and sustained warmth should be avoided. This plant is not suited to warm climates.
• Light: Bright filtered light. No direct midday sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist at all times. It has no pseudobulbs, so do not allow it to dry out. Rainwater or RO water is preferred.
• Humidity and air: Humidity of 60% or higher, with constant gentle air movement.
