Maxillaria porphyrostele is a compact epiphyte from Brazil. Clustered, rounded pseudobulbs each carry two narrow strap-like leaves, and in the cooler months flowers about 4 cm across appear from the base of the pseudobulbs: yellow, with a lip striped red-maroon. Mature plants can carry many flowers at once.

Supplied at flowering size – either a mature plant or a division from a plant that has already flowered – grown on in the Dandenong Ranges. Plants are packed on Sunday and sent on Monday. Buds and flowers cannot be guaranteed at time of shipping due to seasonal and environmental factors.
