How to use it

Any orchid seedling coming out of flask needs time to adjust to open conditions. The move from the sterile, humidity-controlled environment of a flask to a shadehouse or growing bench is one of the highest-risk points in a young plant's life. A humidity dome bridges that gap. It maintains the moisture the seedling was raised in while it establishes roots in its first growing medium.

The 160mm size suits community pots. A comm pot is a group of seedlings from the same flask potted together into a single container, rather than individually. Growing as a community lets seedlings stabilise together and share the microclimate before being separated later. The extra volume also suits larger deflask batches, or seedlings that need longer under the dome before they're ready for open conditions. Once plants are actively rooting and pushing consistent new growth, the dome comes off and they move into standard growing conditions.
