Platystele misera belongs to a genus known for some of the smallest orchids in the family. It grows as an epiphyte in wet forest from west-central Colombia through Ecuador to northern Peru. Fine, upright spikes carry minute flowers above a small tuft of leaves; a hand lens shows the detail.
