Sarcochilus Tina × Amber is an Australian Sarcochilus seedling cross bred from two named cultivars by a specialist Tasmanian breeder. Tina and Amber are both well-regarded Sarcochilus cultivars in the pink and white colour tradition; the cross is expected to produce compact, floriferous seedlings with clean white to soft pink flowers and variable central markings. The photographs show the parent plants. Individual seedlings will vary in colour, marking density, and form.

What to expect

  • Flowering: Spring to early summer. Short upright spikes carrying multiple flowers held clear of the foliage.
  • Flowers: Expected range from white to soft pink with variable red to maroon central markings. Pattern and intensity will vary across individual seedlings.
  • Plant: Compact Sarcochilus habit. Supplied in a 66mm pot as a small established seedling.

Growing notes

  • Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Avoid sustained heat. Well-suited to outdoor growing in southern Australia and cool-temperate regions.
  • Light: Bright filtered shade. No direct midday sun.
  • Water: Keep evenly moist year-round. Sarcochilus has no pseudobulbs and no dormancy — do not allow to dry out completely.
  • Feeding: Balanced fertiliser through spring and summer at reduced strength. Good air movement is important.
